Crave Her Touch by A.K. Leigh

Blurb:
An insecure bombshell, unpredictable stalker, and guilt-ridden hero clash in this story of redemption, trust, self-belief, and the lengths people will go to for true love.

Jennifer “Jenny” Abrahams has three goals: to teach women about mixed martial arts, become North Carolina’s first female mixed martial arts champion, and find true love. Two things stand in her way: the stalker intent on claiming her for himself and her emotional insecurities.

At a crossroads in his career as a witness’s protection minder, Peter “Pete” Gandry, is given the opportunity to return to the scene of his only failure––Smithfield, North Carolina. The assignment is familiar: he must keep an eye on Diana King. He agrees, hoping it will help him find redemption and ease the guilt he feels.

Odd things begin to happen to Jenny. At first, she dismisses them as over-reacting to memories of a stalker from her past. Until, she receives an unsettling note. Four words stand out: I crave your touch . . .

Increasingly, the evidence points to someone she knows. Who can she trust? And, who is this mysterious newcomer who has ignited long buried passion within her?

When the sister of an old nemesis arrives in Smithfield, Pete is forced to expose his true identity. The town quickly turn against him. Just when he thinks it can’t get worse, the stalking evidence begins to point to him.

Can he clear his name and save Jenny from the real stalker in time?

Crave Her Touch is the second book in the “Smithfield” series. Book one, See Her Run, tells Diana King's story.

EXCERPT:
She dialed the number, pressed the cell to her ear, and waited. It went to voicemail.

“Hey, it’s . . . uh, Jen. I was wondering whether you’d be able to come around, so we can talk? You don’t need to call, unless you can’t come. Anyway, I’ll be awake for a while yet. So, just come over when you can. Bye.”

Oh God, that was awkward and jumbled. She frowned. There was nothing she could do about it now. She stuffed her cell into the purse and rose. It might be getting late, but she needed something hot and caffeinated to soothe her growing nerves. Would he show up or not?

She was busying herself with boiling the kettle in the kitchen when a soft rap on the front door caught her attention. Pete. She smiled. Looks like she had the answer to her previous question: he was going to show up.

She called out, “Just a minute,” then used the reflection in the glass of the wall oven to check her loose hair and face were presentable.

Her cheeks were a little pale. She pinched some color into them. Her hair was a little flat at the top. She fluffed it.

Another, more insistent knock came.

Geez. Couldn’t a girl fix her face and hair anymore? She took a final look, turned, and made a bee line for the door. She tried to make her smile look unaffected by the nerves she felt as she opened it.

Except . . . it wasn’t Pete on her doorstep.

Her smile slipped. “What are you doing here?”

As soon as the words were out, her mind narrowed in on the answer. The stalker. Was it possible?

No way. It was impossible. Right?

She felt her breath catch when he captured her gaze, and greeted back, “Hi, Jennifer.”

Oh crap. Yes, he could be her stalker!
